Rallying stands almost alone among its peers. It is one of the few disciplines of motorsport that allows two people to compete in a car together.
That, theoretically, doubles anyone’s chances of being able to compete on a rally, as there are two roles available: driver or co-driver. But, even so, rallying is about so much more than those inside the vehicle.
Whether it be those working on the rally cars themselves as a mechanic, those helping design or perfect them as an engineer, or those overseeing the entire operation as a team manager, there is a vast array of roles within any rally team that play just as vital a part in success as the crew’s performance on the day.
To help highlight this, Motorsport News has gleaned the advice of four significant figures who are working in rallying – both on the national and international level – to share their stories and provide their advice as to the many ways that you can get involved.
