ANOTHER ‘red relic’ are the Chairman Mao stamps that are highly sought after, ranging from the crudely produced stamps of the 1940s as he steadily advanced across China to the ‘Great Leap Forward’ period of the 1960s (Cabinet of curiosities, January 31).
The complete Chairman Mao theme of stamps would now cost thousands of pounds, but should his poems particularly appeal, the 1967 set of 14 stamps would cost more than £5,000 alone. David Profumo’s cabinet would be well enhanced in value with these additions.
