Stone age scares

Out of Darkness

Dir Andrew Cumming, UK 2022 On general release

Originally titled ‘The Origin’, this film was shot in 2020 and first screened at the London Film Festival in 2022. It is only now getting out into cinemas. When a film takes this long to get a release it’s usually because the studio didn’t know what to do with it or simply because it’s dreadful. I haven’t been able to ascertain why it happened with Out of Darkness – maybe something to do with having been shot during the Covid lockdown – but I can assure you it’s far from dreadful.
