Alcatraz, off San Francisco, was a last resort for troubled offenders with no real chance of redemption. Known as ‘The Rock’, the prison was deemed ‘inescapbable’ – but on June 11, 1962 John Anglin, his brother Clarence, and Frank Morris successfully broke out of hold.
