n ancient education meant, mostly, learning about rhetoric. I would hardly call myself a wordsmith, but I, common stories, inserted for rhetorical reasons. And this also means an emphasis on Great Men and their deeds in battle. In short, you end up with some wonderful battle narratives, even if you can’t rely on them. It can also mean that the more mundane aspects of warfare are ignored.
