I was ready to ditch the Eufy X10 pro omni robot vacuum, then I fell in love with it

I’ve lived with one of iRobot’s roombas in my home for years. The roomba 880 from 2013 was the first robot vacuum cleaner to suck up dirt around my house, and I only upgraded it in 2021, when the company launched the roomba j7+.

Needless to say, iRobot’s suckers are reliable machines. The established brand has been making consumer robot vacuums for more than 20 years but, in the past decade, brands of all shapes and sizes have flooded the market with their own robo vacs. From Dyson, Samsung and Eufy to budget-friendlier brands such as Ultenic, Vactidy and Proscenic.

While Anker’s sub-brand Eufy has proven its worth time and time again – three of its autonomous cleaners feature in our round-up of the best robot vacuums – I was still nervous about packing up my ultra-reliable j7+ to test the all-new (and considerably cheaper) Eufy X10 pro omni.

A two-in-one robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping function, self-emptying base and water tank, the Eufy X10 pro omni is – on the surface – a more feature-rich vacuum, compared with the j7+, which doesn’t have a mop function (you’d need the combo j7+ for that).

Touted as having the strongest suction power of any Eufy robot vacuum, with object detection as good as a self-driving , how good is the X10 in reality? I’ve been putting the latest affordable high-end model from Eufy to the test.
