Documentary: HOSTAGES

The 1979 hostage crisis in Tehran may seem like a footnote now – or theillustrates, the reasons behind the actions by student revolutionaries have deep connections to today. To recap: on November 4, 1979, 52 civilians were taken hostage at the American Embassy by a group calling themselves Muslim Student Followers of the Imam’s Line. What was supposed to be 48-hour occupation lasted more than a year and facilitated the rise of Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran and Ronald Reagan in the US.
