Art journaling

Junk journaling has gained popularity among artists in recent years. It is a subset of art journaling, and just like that artistic endeavour, there is no one agreed definition for what a junk journal really is. While what it means to each artist varies, in general such journals are made with a mix of found and recycled materials.

Why junk journaling?

What the journal is used for, the composition and the purpose of the junk journal itself is as individual as you are. The charm of junk journaling lies in its ability to transform seemingly ordinary and discarded items into unique art.

The line between art journaling and junk journaling is arbitrary and for me is one of emphasis. The crucial distinction is that the materials you use in a junk journal are found rather than bought. Otherfor a halfway house of using ephemera from my life to document and explore my experience.
