THIS IMPOSING HOUSE has been a landmark in Fairfield, Connecticut, since its construction in 1855. The Italianate house is a variant of the Tuscan Villa, a boxlike form known for its symmetry, deep cornices, and a belvedere centered on top. Its tall, hooded windows and small windows under the cornice are other hallmarks of the Italian styles.
