UNLEASHING A PLAN TO PROTECT HUNTING

Charlie Pye-Smith’s article ‘It’s time to put up a proper fight’ [Comment, February issue] begs the question I put to another long-standing magazine to do with hunting some months ago that, to my knowledge, was not printed. I wonder in which direction they are heading. Having hunted and run horses in point-to-points for many years, I asked: “What is the plan?”

My family and I, like countless others, marched to all points east and west, and eventually London, peacefully. But sadly to no avail, as politicians in the Labour Party were determined to ban our sport. There could well be an attempt after the next election to ban trail hunting. The country has become more diverse but this should also include our traditional values.

It would be foolhardy to suggest that the Conservatives will win the upcoming election, so in September I wrote a letter to Sir Keir
