Access side-panel features individually

Since Google added a side panel to Chrome in 2022, it has expanded the panel’s options to span a range of browser features. These include your bookmarks, history, search (meaning you can search Google without leaving the current web page) and Chrome’s new reading mode.

These are all instantly accessible by clicking the ‘Side panel’ button and choosing an option from the dropdown menu – but that could be about to change. Google is currently testing an experiment that will remove the ‘Side panel’ button
