It would be a strange turntable round-up that didn't feature Rega, so here's the Rega Planar 1 Plus. This is essentially the company's entry-level Rega Planar 1 turntable, but with the ‘Plus’ bit indicating that there is a phono stage built-in, so you can plug it directly into a line input of any amplifier or active speaker.

As we're seeing in this group, theRega. Yet the UK company, which still designs and assembles every product by hand in the south-east of England, had the technology available, because it makes standalone phono stages. Indeed the ‘Plus’ is fundamentally the Planar 1 turntable with Rega's Fono Mini A2D phono stage attached.
