THE Swanage Railway-based team that restored former National Collection LSWR T3 4-4-0 No. 563 has taken a top accolade at the Heritage Railway Association Annual Awards 2024.
The prestigious Chairman’s Special Award, which is not handed out every year, went to the 563 Locomotive Group for the stunning results achieved in bringing a locomotive that had not steamed in more than 75 years back to life.
