I remember the feeling Fabian had that day in the bookstore very well.

I had a similar epiphany when I walked into WH Smiths aged 11 and discovered magazines with VWs in them. The feeling of eager anticipation we all had back then, waiting for the next issue of your favourite magazine to come out, is something kids these days, growing up in a world of instant gratification, will never experience.

Fabian’s VW ownership journey began with a 1971 Beetle in Kansas Beige. Taking influences from what he saw in Super VW, he lowered the front, added a Weber 32/36 carburettor and fitted a Thunderbird dual quiet pack exhaust, way before such exhausts were considered old school, or retro. They were just what most people had in the early ’90s.
