CRL report blaming unrest on racism is ‘flawed, shallow’

calls for judicial review

THE Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) has been accused of using racism as the “easy way out” and an “excuse” for what triggered the July 2021 unrest in Phoenix.

The commission’s chairperson, Professor Luka Mosoma, released the findings of the report last Monday. He said, among others, that the unrest proved that adversarial relationships existed between African and Indian communities.
