SUPERMARKET STANDOUT

1 KIKKOMAN Hoisin Sauce

PRICE: $6.86 for 9.4 oz ($0.92 per oz) COMMENTS: This “bright and tangy” sauce struck “the right balance of sweet and savory” and reminded some tasters of “roasted fruit.” It was “thick” and “the slightest bit grainy” when sampled plain but whisked easily into a marinade and glaze. We could taste “five spice” on the char siu and loved that it was “pleasantly sweet but not cloying.” The meat was “perfectly caramelized.”
