Hot water taps

■ There are two types of hot water tap – a true boiling water tap, which delivers water at 100°C and a tap that delivers water a fraction cooler, called a near-boiling (or instant hot water) tap. That degree or two cooler makes little difference if you’re filling a saucepan to cook pasta or making up a hot water bottle, but true 100C water is better for everything from making tea to sterilising baby bottles.
