Frustrated by Fiat
Fiat has pushed me and my wife to the limit. Having discovered some other people's experiences of dealing with Fiat aftercare, I realise that we are not the only folk who have had a bad experience with Fiat.
We waited for 18 months (since October 2021) to receive our pre-ordered new Adria Sonic motorhome at the beginning of May (2023).
We covered just over 5,000 miles before the ZF nine-speed automatic gearbox failed in the fourth week of August, in Belgium, leaving us stranded.
Two Fiat-approved garages failed to help us, and Fiat arranged to repatriate the vehicle back to a Fiat Professional dealership in the UK. This process took two weeks.
I am writing this as we approach the third week of December and our new motorhome is still not back on the road. It has now been off the road for a longer period of time than it was on the road from new, and has been unusable for nearly four months. How long does it take to get a new gearbox to a customer whose new vehicle is still under warranty?
We planned to use our motorhome all year round and have had to cancel visits both at home and abroad.
These were booked never expecting our new vehicle to break down when it was just over three months old, and certainly never expecting it to still be waiting for a new gearbox near to Christmas!
It should be noted that our Adria dealer in Preston, the Fiat Professional dealer in Birmingham, and Adria UK have all been extremely supportive and joined in my battle to push Fiat along.
But we are still waiting and no one is able to give
