Tom Morello’s gigantic, shit-eating grin beams down from the video screen as Babymetal tear into a thunderousand industrial nu-metal beast And yet compared to the hilariously extreme sense-blitzing bubblegum riot of the band’s early UK dates almost a decade ago, this feels like a fairly conventional pop-metal performance. The blast beats, turbo-shredding guitars solos and wacko sci-fi visuals have been toned down, while newer, emo-adjacent power ballads like and are more prominent in the mix.
