HOW TO… Turn on hidden Windows tools

Windows is being constantly developed – and, rather than wait until it’s finished, Microsoft makes some features in development available on a rolling basis. However, many of these are available only to Windows Insiders signed up to preview versions of the operating system.

If you like to keep ahead of your peers, or just enjoy tinkering with Windows, you can often enable these features yourself. One of the easiest ways to do so is to use ViVeTool, which lists all the features of the version of Windows you’re running, and lets you enable or disable each one.

Here, we’ll show you how to download pre-release versions of Windows and use ViVeTool to tailor which features are available on your PC. Before starting, make sure you have at least a complete backup of your system from which you can restore if
