Self-assessment taxpayers have just over a day to file returns - or face potential £100 fine

The clock is ticking for self-assessment taxpayers if they want to avoid the prospect of a £100 late-return fine.

The Wednesday midnight deadline for filing is fast approaching, with penalties potentially being incurred for anyone who fails to hit the button in time.

HM Revenue and Customs () expects more than 12.1 million returns to be filed for the 2022-23 tax year, along with any payment that is owed.
