Catching up on my reading and two articles in the December 2023 issue of Heritage Commercials, brought back memories.

There was an article on vehicles to Kosovo and another on Scania T cabs in the UK. I worked in the sales office for the Scania dealer in Purfleet from 1986 - 2006.

One of our customers was Cyril Knowles, and in the mid 1990s he decided to reorganise the vehicles he ran on the Civil & Marine contract. This resulted in his ‘P’ cabbed Scanias used on routes that got the driver home each night, those drivers who were away for one or possibly two nights were allocated ‘R’ sleepers. This left the drivers who were away every night. Instead of going for Topline (high roof) cabs, he decided to go for bonneted ‘T’ cabs.

His existing P cabs were used for the local runs and an order was placed with us for 6x R124 and
