“FOR MY Fair Isle footstool cover, I used bright colours for the motifs with natural shades for the background,” explains Mary Henderson. “My inspiration was childhood games with lines and counters. Jamieson & Smith’s Shetland Aran yarn is a pleasing wool to knit with, and works well with stranding for colourwork.” The footstool cover is designed to fit a footstool cube of 40cm by 40cm.

PATTERN NOTES

The cube is constructed by knitting four panels for the sides, then joining to work in the round to work the top. Decreases are worked by centred double decreases from each corner to a centred point.
