ECURIE ECOSSE

The name Ecurie Ecosse immediately conjures up thoughts of France, yet it relates to a successful Scottish race team, founded in 1951 by Edinburgh accountant David Murray. He was a true Francophile who, in addition to his accountancy practice, owned a number of pubs in Edinburgh and a wine shop that featured French wines. He also reasoned that if he was going to develop a motor racing team that would race internationally, having a French title might help extract a little more starting money from European organisers! Over the course of several decades the team was hugely successful, entering many disciplines in motorsport, including Formula One and the Le Mans 24-hour which the team won twice. These achievements cemented its name in history and, along with the striking colour scheme, made it the ideal subject for a custom scooter.
