GRAYSON PERRY: ESSEX HOUSE TAPESTRIES - THE LIFE OF JULIE COPE

15 March to 12 June 2024

Two exquisite, large-scale tapestries by one of the UK´s leading visual artists will be on display for the first time in the county. Created in 2015the work hangs in the house and this second set was commissioned by the Crafts Council to be seen more widely. The tapestries tell a story of Julie Cope – a fictional creation of Perry's, illustrating key events in the heroine’s journey. Packed full of imagery and allusion, viewers will be able to take in both tapestries together and spot the impending signs of unhappiness that lurk in the first.
