CHANGING OF THE GUARD

It is now nearly 50 years since a book about the history of all the Guards regiments has been published. There have of course been regimental histories and coffee-table books, but nothing about the seven regiments as part of a single and unique part of the British Army: the Household Division. Septum juncta in uno (seven joined in one) is the Guards’ motto, invoking a sense of unity while also recognising that these regiments (The Life Guards, The Blues and Royals, Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, and Irish Guards) are different.
