A first edition, first issue copy of Euclid’s (pictured) is heading for auction with Christie’s in a sale that runs from next Wednesday to has been required reading by mathematicians in training down to the present day, and as such it is considered the “oldest textbook in the history of science”. This edition was translated from Arabic into Latin by Adelard of Bath and Robert of Chester and printed in 1482. It is expected to fetch up to $400,000.
