BASED in a corner of Lancashire is a British riding wear brand that has become a household name within showing

Sara Traynor is celebrating her 20th year at the head of Pretty Ponies, a tailoring business that specialises in jackets, competition clothing and accessories.

Sara’s grandparents were both machinists and on visits to them during the summer holidays she fondly took an interest in their craft.

“I started off by making scrunchies,” says Sara, who grew up competing on the show circuit. “I went to college to study fashion and along the way I’ve taken courses, and have done various types of tailoring, from underwear to wedding dresses. Eventually, I married my passion for making things with my love for horses.”
