Coping with NOROVIRUS

ADVICE FROM OUR WOMAN’S WEEKLY DOCTOR

Norovirus symptoms usually start suddenly within one to two days of being infected. Although the stomach bug can be very unpleasant, it mostly goes away in a couple of days if you maintain good hygiene.

The main symptoms of norovirus are feeling sick, being sick (vomiting) and diarrhoea, as well as a high temperature, headache and aching limbs. You can usually treat yourself or your child at home. The most important thing is to rest and have lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. Paracetamol or ibuprofen will ease the aching. Stay off school or work, as this is when
