How did your teenage trials in England go?

My agent had some contacts at English clubs. I trained at Watford for a couple of days and then Barnsley, where we had a terrible week because they put us in a hotel but didn’t pay for the food, so we struggled without money. Then Watford wanted to see more of me, so I went on trial for four months. It was great because I learned lots about English football, even if they didn’t sign me. I returned home to France and made my way from there.

You then made your name in Germany with Hoffenheim – what was that
