Fair game

NLIKE curators at public art galleries and their favoured artists, who proclaim that they are ‘challenging perceptions’ few of us actually have, commercial dealers with livings to make generally offer art that buyers might enjoy. In looking through the preview highlights for this year’s London Art Fair at the Business Design Centre in N1 (January 17–21; ), it is striking how many works involve traditional skills and image making—and sometimes even humour. I shall be previewing this and several other fairs in the early months of 2024, including, today, Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art, at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square, W1 (January 11–14; ), and the Winter Show, at), with more listed in my Pick of the Week ().
