After my first encounter with these magnificent creatures during a hunt in Limpopo, South Africa I became obsessed by their strength, resilience, and dangerous nature. Hunting these buffalo offers a unique and adrenaline-fuelled experience. The anticipation of hunting in the Eastern Cape thornbush was overwhelming. These buffalo are notorious for their aggressive behaviour and ability to inflict harm on hunters.

I was heading to the Eastern Cape, a well-known hunting destination. This safari was meticulously planned during a gathering in Nashville TN at SCI in February where I met Rob Birch of Royal Karoo Safaris. Bob and Laura Birch offer a boutique Victorian-style lodge with over 25 000 acres and a further 100 000 of exclusive concessions available.

As my plane taxied to the terminal of Port Elizabeth, my spirits soared. I was eager to reunite with my friends from East Texas, Bruce, and Becky Hunnicutt, who were also embarking on a buffalo hunt. Rob and Laura awaited our arrival.
