DB Cargo has lost its crown as the UK’s largest rail freight haulier, according to the latest figures released by the Office of Rail and Road on December 12.
Covering the period from June to September 2023, the overall total was similar to the same period in 2022 at 8.11million train kilometres operated (a marginal decline of 0.3%), but DB Cargo fell by 12% to 2.25m km, representing a market share of 28%.
