Get away for… THE WEEKEND!

Where in the world can you park up your ‘Van, open your curtains in the morning and admire a royal castle and, if the King happens to be looking out of the right window, he can admire your ‘Van as well? Windsor, of course. Other royal castles may be available.

For the past few years, we have been walking the Thames footpath with friends in 10-mile chunks and, last October, we reached Windsor. I spotted a motorhome parking area and spoke to one of the attendants who confirmed that sleeping overnight was unofficially permitted. A plan was hatched to bring our ‘Van down in February, walk at stretch of the footpath, paint the town red on Saturday night and visit the castle on the Sunday.

February arrives and Jen books tickets online for the castle. A recent review on Park4night confirms that overnighting is still allowed. We load up the ‘Van for our first trip of the year and set off. When we arrive, a few other motorhomes are already settled in and we spend the night,
