Keep your Ethernet FASTER than Wi-Fi

Take the ‘ping’ test to check your Ethernet speed

You might think your wired network connection – known as Ethernet – is running slowly, but have you checked? For a definitive answer, you need to test the speed of your network, over both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, without your broadband connection affecting either result. You can then compare how each option performs to gauge whether your wired connection really is underperforming.

There are several ways to do this, but the simplest and most efficient is to send a small packet of data to your router and record the time it takes to return. To do this, use Windows’ ping command.
