Inspired by the curatorial concept of the late Okwui Enwezor (1964–2019) to reimagine the emancipatory potential of postcoloniality, (2023) featuring two young people of Algerian and Tunisian heritage exploring the 1974 president candidacy of the pseudonymous “Djellali Kamal.” The duo Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme overlayed song and dance performances by young Palestinians reflecting their displacement and fugitivity from the Israeli occupation regime in their multimedia installation (2023). In the oasis of Dhaid, Amar Kanwar’s latest film installation (2023) comprises simple texts narrating allegorical folk stories about human cruelty paired with footage of birds, trees, and water.
