G-Sync vs FreeSync

Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) displays were a hot topic when Nvidia revealed G-Sync in 2013. Tying monitor refreshes to the availability of new data from the GPU didn’t immediately catch on, in part because G-Sync required a new monitor and an Nvidia GPU. AMD announced its FreeSync standard in 2014, with the first solutions appearing in March 2015.
