THE inaugural Autorama show brought the industry, cars, and people together in a well-proven SEMA Show-style event that received rave reviews from participants and pundits. Underpinning the event was SIVANZ, NZ's umbrella organisation representing the rights and needs of all special interest car owners. One hundred and forty cars with an estimated value of $15 million were on display and mixed with trade exhibitors; it created an atmosphere that delivered a sense of belonging to a much bigger picture than previous. Enthusiasts engaging directly with suppliers and the cars was one special kind of magic. The highlights were many, and kicking off was the unveiling of 10 “first-time shown” in NZ vehicles.
It was special VIP Guest Rick Love, President of USA's Vintage Air, first visit to NZ. He was very polished as he emceed each reveal by asking each owner a few pertinent questions before the covers came off. The crowds loved it and followed every reveal in quick succession.
