Designing environments where guests will often spend months is no mean feat. There needs to be variety, surprise, a sense of endless space, and in the case of Silversea’s new Silver Nova ship and her sister Silver Ray, set to launch mid-2024, elegance at every turn. Genoa-based architecture firm and cruise ship aficionados GEM played a major role in its design, creating luxury that is tastefully discreet.

Take open-air dining venue The Marquee. Located near a 130-square-metre swimming pool, it feels more like something you’d find on the Italian Riviera than onboard a seafaring vessel. There are plump, emerald banquettes and curved, creamy armchairs pitched against long wooden tables atop two-tone, geometric tiled floors. At the award-winning Spaccanapoli, the flavours of Naples are recreated using fresh ingredients and perfect pizza dough. At The Grill, guests cook their food at the table on hot lava stones.
