POV Interview: INA FICHMAN

FOR DECADES, producer Ina Fichman has brought to life some of the most powerful and successful documentaries to come out of this country. From her extensive work documenting the complexities of the Middle East, through rock docs celebrating iconic bands like Fanny, to the Oscar-nominated Fire of Love (2022), she has fostered films that refuse to conform to simple narratives, providing unique and complex points of view on a variety of subjects and giving opportunities to a diverse group of filmmakers whom she has tirelessly championed.

A member of the Academy and a board member of both DOC and the International Documentary Association, Fichman has been a vocal proponent of nonfiction film, while keeping up a seemingly tireless pace in her producing career, shepherding four films this year alone.
