Whenever guests stayed aboard my schooner Britannia, the 42lt hot water calorifier was insufficient to feed two bathrooms, both with showers and washbasins, along with the galley twin sinks. So, I had to tell people not to run the hot water as they would in their house, otherwise somebody would finish up with a cold rinse.
To overcome this deficiency I decided to fit a second 42lt tank and position it on top of the old one, deep in the cavernous space under the saloon floor. The new tank was the same make and size as the original, with the same hose fittings on the front. I therefore inter-connected the tanks together in series, so that cold water entered at the bottom tank and hot water came out the top tank.
