FEBRUARY

l Shalima Ramsanker, 43, of Clare Estate, was shot in the chest in an alleged robbery at the Uvonka Beach House, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. She was on holiday with her family. It is alleged that the alarm for the house went off and Ramsanker, who knew the code, went into the lounge to disarm it. As she did, shots rang out as an intruder entered the unit through the kitchen door and began shooting at random. Ramsanker was in close proximity to him and was shot. He began shouting: “I want the money. Give me the money.” Two handbags and a wallet were taken. The matter is still under investigation.

l Lauretta Ramrathan and her alleged boyfriend, Zale Wendel Leo Brock, were arrested for her husband’s killing. In November last year, Bradley Singh, 38, was stabbed to death during an alleged robbery, metres from the couple’s home in uMhlatuzana township, Chatsworth. He was robbed of his shoes, cellphone and lunch bag. He died at the scene. Ramrathan, 29, and Brock, 39, were charged with murder. The matter is being heard in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court.
