VISIT a show as a judge or fellow exhibitor and it's all too obvious (to me, at any rate) that few budgies are being show-cage trained. Some are clearly being taught to love a show cage, but others are poorly prepared – and with many others, no show-cage training has been carried out at all. There are some exhibitors, by contrast, who put down their birds in immaculate show condition; moreover, their birds seem to love the cages and really display themselves to the judge.
