THE exhibition budgerigar breeding season is upon us and, up and down the country, breeders are buzzing with excitement at what is a crucial time in the yearly cycle. You can't possibly win best in show or score at the BS Club Show without first breeding that superb bird.

So the hard work starts now. This period demands careful planning, attention to detail and a deep understanding of budgerigar genetics.

The foundation of a successful breeding season beginsto create the right conditions for your budgerigars to breed. Perches must offer variety and equally be strong enough to have two birds mating on them; the nest-box has to be clean and warm; the nest bedding should be of the right quality. Nothing should be left to chance.
