Accepting loss is always difficult, but when the world loses a character as cherished as Craig Breen, it becomes almost impossible to believe. It feels unfair, unjust and incredibly difficult to come to terms with, even so many months on from when it happened. But one thing is for sure – Craig Breen will never, ever be forgotten.
Breen tragically lost his life in an April testing accident ahead of this year’s Rally Croatia, at just 33 years old. He was preparing for his second start since rejoining Hyundai via a difficult season with M-Sport Ford that had promised much but delivered little. But the sparkle had returned once strapped back into a Hyundai i20. Visibly glowing and at ease with his machine, Breen starred on the snowy tracks of Sweden and came as close as he ever did to a breakthrough WRC win.
