Red Sea attacks: Shipping delays and petrol price hikes feared as UK looks to bolster security

The UK and international allies are exploring ways to bolster maritime security in the Red Sea after BP paused all its tanker journeys due to attacks from militants in Yemen.

The oil giant's decision to "temporarily pause all transits through the Red Sea", amid a surge in attacks by Iran-backed Houthis, has prompted fears of petrol price hikes and shipping delays.

It came after a number of shipping firms including Maersk had already paused container shipments through the area due
