A common question asked by many people whose goal is self-sufficiency is, “How many vegetables should I plant to feed my family for a year?” This is difficult to answer, because so many variables must be considered. I grow nearly all of my family’s vegetables — with the exception of a small amount of lettuce or peppers here and there — so I’m going to walk you through the way I determine how much to plant in our garden.
