SA survivor shares Gaza horrors

IT’S been almost a week since 19 South Africans who also have Palestinian citizenship returned to South Africa, having survived the deadly conflict in Gaza.

They were evacuated from the war-torn enclave to Egypt before finally returning home last week.

Their return comes amid heightened tensions as Israel resumed military operations in Gaza after a seven-day ceasefire, placing the blame on Hamas for its alleged refusal to release more Israeli hostages.

The toll of the conflict has been devastating, with more than 17 000 Palestinians reported dead and thousands injured.
