When eight men working at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Ennis, Alaska disappear on December 17, during the last sunset of the year before ‘the long night’, Chief of Police Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster, pictured left) is first on the scene.

The case seems entirely baffling by itself, but when she comes across the tongue of an unrelated Native woman at the deserted facility, her mind starts spinning.

When the men’s naked bodies are subsequently discovered frozen into a “giant block of flesh” by local woman Rose (Fiona Shaw, True Blood, watch On Demand), seemingly petrified to death and suffering bizarre self-inflicted wounds, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
