The X1 is the most affordable SUV from BMW. Now in its third generation, it’s priced from $60,400 plus on-road costs for the sDrive 18i, tested here, that gets a 115kW/230Nm, 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbopetrol engine driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch automatic.
There is also a $70,400 X1 xDrive 20i, which gets a 150kW/300Nm, 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbopetrol/all-wheel drivetrain. The M Sport version is $73,400 and the M35 XDrive, with 233kW/400Nm, is $90,900.
